Go to this pub on any weekday lunchtime and most of the customers will be University employees. It's gotten to the point where it's often necessary to make reservations if you want to eat. This has also lead to the problem of very long waiting times for food. Having said that, if you have the time, the food is very good. The fish cakes with chilli dip are very good and the hill of nachos is amazing, if you don't mind getting in a mess! The pub itself is quite traditional looking with lots of wood and brass, which is a nice change from trendy tub chairs and lots of glass. The staff are usually quite friendly but sometimes you might be served by someone that's having an off day. I really like this pub and if I have a long lunch I often meet friends there.
